For those of you wondering why my presence is sort of few and far between, it’s coming down to the wire for the musical. Our show opens on March 21st, which is (oh my goodness) in like a week and 2 days. That means that we’ve entered what has officially been deemed ‘hell week’. The week where everything becomes seriously polished and we bump up our energy level from good old fun to musical theatre maniacs.
It’s exhausting, to say the least, but it’s also exhilirating. This is the time when months of hard work come together to form something magical. It’s amazing to see characters come to life, scenes take on emotion, songs reach their full crescendo. It makes the two hours of pretend time seem suddenly real and all the insane back breaking work totally worth while.
Saturday I have another full day rehearsal, 10am-6:30pm. We usually do about 2 runthroughs, with one (way too short) lunch break. It’s a make it or break it rehearsal. Then, it’s show week. Two dress/tech rehearsals Monday and Tuesday, then the show nites, Wednesday-Saturday. So, don’t expect to hear from me too much. I’ll be passed out somewhere, looking for my voice and something to eat. 😉
Obviously, with all this going on, I haven’t had time to write. But, as soon as this is all over and done with, I’ll have a bunch of time to myself without rehearsals, and I’m taking a week off of life to crash. So hopefully, it’ll spark something…. anything in the dusty creative recesses of my brain.
