Two Down, One to Go

As May draws closer to an end, I have been doing some serious vocal warmups to get me prepared for my summer activities. On May 30th I have an audition with a local theatre group to do Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. I really really want the part of Mrs. Potts. 🙂 So, I have been practicing the theme song, trying to get it right. The part is technically for a mezzo-soprano, however, it can be done by a chest belter (which I am). So *cross your fingers* for me, ok?

While in the process of musical rehearsals, I have also been doing some song selections for the karaoke competition I hope to take part in. Thus far, I’ve narrowed the songs down to 2. I need 2 more to have all I need for the rounds. Right now, my two choices are Call Me When You’re Sober by Evanescence and Low by Kelly Clarkson. Two contenders at this time are Life Goes On by Leann Rimes and Just a Girl by No Doubt. The songs have to be fun enough or moody enough to get the crowd going and popular enough so that theyre not droning me out and talking to their neighbor. You know? If you’d all be so kind as to vote for some favorites or give me an idea of what you think I could do in the vein of the aforementioned songs, I’d greatly appreciate your help. This begins June 5th. I’d like to have some songs warmed up by then. 😉

In the writing game, I’m glad to say I’m making some progress on my edits! FINALLY! I’m halfway through chapter 4. There are 9 chapters! So, I’m almost halfway. WOOHOO! I’m feeling much better now that I’m making some sort of progress. I was really starting to get worried I would be doing them forever. In the meantime, I haven’t been able to write. Editing has completely stifled my creativity. Which is fine, but I didn’t know it would do that, and jumping from world to world mentally (especially two such different worlds) really made my head hurt. So, I’m giving my WIP a break as I edit this baby. I’m pretty sure at the pace I’m going, I could have it done by the end of the month, if I work really hard. 😀 Which I intend to.

BTW, happy hump day! I’m beyond happy that the weekend is only a few days away.

  1. Best of luck with audition. That sounds like so much fun. I love to sing along to Disney movies.
